Facing the Challenge

We look forward to this year as many changes come to Troop 118 and the Scouts. Join us as we travel down new, exciting roads.

Along with now accepting both girls and boys, we've changed our name to Scouts BSA.

Scouts BSA is a year-round program for Scouts in fifth grade through high school that provides fun, adventure, learning, challenge, and responsibility to help them become the best version of themselves.

In Scouts BSA, young men and women go places, test themselves, and have one-of-a-kind adventures that can't be found anywhere else.

Be a part of the excitment.

Who are we ?

Scouts BSA Troop 118 is part of the Lenape Trail District, Northern NJ Council, Boy Scouts of America. We are committed to imparting: self-reliance, leadership, outdoor skills and fun all in a Jewish setting. We are proud to be chartered by the Jewish War Veterans. Scouting is for boys and girls who have earned the Arrow of Light Award in Cub Scouts (and are at least 10 1/2) -or- have completed the fifth grade, or who are 11 through 17 years old. Covid Safety

In order to protect Scouts, leaders and families, we observe all safety recomendations of the Scouts, the State of New Jersey, the CDC as well as the troop's own medical consultant. All activities are masked and maintaining appropriate distancing.

Jewish Observance

The troop observes the laws of kashrut (we only eat kosher food) and is Shabbat observant in all its activities. When participating in troop activities, we always cover our heads. Details are covered in our Troop Rules

Meetings

Want to check us out? Just call one of the leaders listed below and you can join us at one of our meetings. Here's our current Troop calendar.

Activities

Normally our activities include troop campouts at various camps, hiking and indoor wall climbing. We also go camping all year round. We march in the Celebrate Israel parade and help run a picnic for veteran's. During a lock-in campout, we worked on a synagogue's library, watched movies and had a great time. Whatever we do, we try to have lots of fun. Look at some of our activities

Summer Camp

We camp at Camp Big Springs, located at Resica Falls Scout Reservation, in East Stroudsburg, PA. All our food is kosher and we hold daily morning and Shabbat services. All of this is at a first-class Scout camp. We earn lots of merit badges and make plenty of new friends. Last one down the water slide is a rotten egg. Summer Camp Video

Eagle Scouts

The Troop is very proud of its Eagle Scouts, the highest rank a Scout can achieve. Eagle Scouts must complete a significant project for a non-Scout organization. We have celebrated ninteen scouts achieving this rank. Here are some pictures of several Eagle Scout projects
